Bioidentical hormones are processed hormones that come from plants and are designed so your body uses them in the same way it uses your own hormones. Estrogen, progesterone and testosterone are the most commonly used bioidentical hormones.
Unlike other bioidentical hormone therapies that use topical or injection-based therapies, the Biote pellet therapy uses tiny, custom-compounded pellets that are customized for each patient based on a comprehensive consultation and extensive lab work. Biote hormone pellets work with the chemistry of the body because they replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that normally occur within the body.

Biote hormone pellets last 3-6 months depending on the patient’s gender, weight, absorption rates and the amount of deficiency or surplus hormones present within the patient at the time of insertion.
Our team of expert providers will reinsert pellets 2-4 times per year to help keep hormones optimized and balanced. It may take up to two insertions before patients feel the full benefits of Biote hormone therapy.
During the in-office visit at Health + Glow, our team will numb the insertion area and ensure that you are comfortable. The insertion area is most commonly the upper buttocks. After the area is numbed, one of our expert providers will make a small incision to insert the hormone pellet.
Since pellets are bioidentical and contain hormones that mimic those in the body, pellets are dissolved and absorbed. While some patients may feel results quickly, it may take up to two insertions to feel the full benefits.
Dr. Kallikadan is double board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Anti-Aging/Regenerative Medicine, specializing in internal and aesthetic medicine. In addition to being a BioTE certified provider, she is an expert M.D. in diVa, a laser that helps with women’s health, such as incontinence and vaginal rejuvenation. She is known for providing compassionate care by connecting with patients on a personal level and creating comprehensive plans to help them reach their goals, inspiring some patients to even travel from afar. Dr. Kallikadan gained her 20+ years of world experience in health care while attending medical school at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Germany and doing rotations in India and England. She completed her residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She is affiliated with BayCare Health System, HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.
